New drawing, BAM! Took a lot of work to get this done in a week. My goal is to complete a drawing a week, not neccessarily of any theme, just a drawing I want to do. This is heavily based on Russian folk art (WHICH I LOVE), the flowers are direct replicas, the pattern/colors are more my style, but if you look at a Russian shawl you'd see they combine flowers with geometric design. Which is what I'm . . .eventually . . . going for. Realism with geomety and pattern. I clearly have a long way to go.

In my attempt to finish this in a week, the power went out last night (yay! The building is silent! Boo it's shit hard to see), so had to work a while in candlelight and silence. (Not actual silence as I live in literally the loudest part of Seattle.) And I burned my head a few times and burnt a few hairs, getting my face too close, ha.

But I digress. . . I like to listen to lectures while I draw, so I'm actually learning and hearing new ideas. It's one of the reasons why I love drawing so much. I can put my hands to work in creation while the mind explores new thoughts and ideas. The cumulation of these thoughts are then represnted in a visual form. Movement of thinking. But a drawing is of an instant, it doesn't move but captures of moment of the thought. 

I think that can be said for most art but, for me, colored geometry/pattern is how I understand and represent it. . . I really like this piece. . . Whelp, I gotta go get more pencils tomorrow and a larger board. I already have a drawing in mind. :) See ya soon!
