Just into starting this piece my new art teacher and all around amazing artist, Seb had ended their life. It was quite unexpected and sad. Those who know me any decent amount of time know I'm terrible with tragic events. Sort things out in my head and draw it out. So a lot of my thoughts on the matter and what I admired about Seb are in this drawing. The multiple levels of connection, primarily to nature. Here's their website, I recommend looking through their work: brushandpen.net/
If you're interested in this piece, I'm donating it to a memorial celebration and proceeds go to LGBTQ + youth charity. Here's the event: www.facebook.com/events/883492081756538/ A new drawing I started the other day on the medium side, 20"x30". I presume this one will take awhile since there's not really any measurement behind it, or organization. But it's colored pencil, so shouldn't be too long. There actually probably won't be eyes in it but will maybe work with white spaces? We'll see, it's all about going with the flow. This is a still life oil painting I'm working on and have been working on for quite some time. It literally took me 6 hours just to mix the paint pallet! This piece has numerous challenges, colored glass, a cement covered brick, copper sphere, and some baby's breath. But since the drawing and underpainting went ok, I'm hoping the painting will go quicker.
