I set out to draw all the native conifers of the Cascadian bioregion in the fall of 2020. A year later, it's almost done! There are 36 native conifers I will be illustrating for this project. Each tree is found and photographed by me and I collect the branch and cone specimens to capture an accurate rendering using science illustration techniques. The collection will be released as a card identification set with info on how each tree relates to their environment. As I have worked through this project, some illustrations turned into postcards and a riso print. Below are a few samples of this project.
