It is closing on year 2 of running Psychedelic Lens as an art business. Surprisingly, I made a profit this year! Not a lot by any means but a good sign things are on their way. I am expecting it to take 5-7 years to establish my business. It has been interesting to see how it has evolved over these two years. I haven’t made a colored pencil piece in a year and instead moved in a different artistic direction to traditional/digital hybrid work. I feel very lucky to enjoy this new style work which other people enjoy as well and able to have colored pencil expression for myself.
A lot of my goals for the year did not come to pass like working in my printing studio and completing the tree series. But other opportunities came up which I didn’t anticipate and it has been a year of growth. I am very excited about the printing studio, I got an essential piece of equipment which makes the studio functional to a more precise degree than I was originally building for (took a year of consistent looking). The tree series is almost done, 7 more trees, much more manageable to complete to have a identification flash card set available next year. Things take longer than you think, the key is to not give up and keep plugging away.
There is a lot to look forward to next year :) Thank you for the support you have given me, be it buying things from my shop, sharing a blog post, even just reading a blog post, following on instagram, commenting, I greatly appreciate it all! While it is A LOT of work to build a creative business I am very fortunate to be able to- THANK YOU!
